Cecilia Louise “Lou” Kottenstette, age 10, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, August 23, 2022, surrounded by God’s grace and her loving family. Additional details of her passing are detailed in her obituaries:

Here is a link to an interview I had with Wayne Rhode where we discussed a little more about Cecilia’s injury and the process we went through in filing a petition to HHS through the US Court of Federal Claims. This injury was confirmed in the US Court of Federal Claims in petition no. 15-1016V filed under the National Childhood Vaccine Injury Compensation Program and later affirmed in the US Federal Circuit Court of Appeals case no. 20-2282 on June 15, 2021. Her injury was listed in the §300aa–14. Vaccine Injury Table, which was established by our Congress in 1986; however, HHS Secretary Shalala removed her injury in 1995 as noted on page 11 which is why it took so long to get help for her injury which arrived too late to make an impact on her care.
